What information can I see without a passcode?
The only data that is public at this time are results at the state level. To view the findings from the survey and the voice of more than 23,000 Colorado educators they can go to www.tellcolorado.org click on “view results” on the left hand navigation bar and then click on the hyperlink to “Colorado.” 

Additionally, a report of almost 550 principals on a set of principal-only questions about their conditions and the district support they receive can viewed by clicking the link at the top of the results page (after clicking “view results” or by clicking on the link to “principal-only survey results” under the results heading on the left hand navigation bar).

Why do I need to have a passcode to access my school’s results?
Results are available for 50 school districts with a response rate of 40% or better and 20 or more responses, and for any of the 624 schools that had a 50% response rate or better. Data is passcode protected to allow schools and districts the opportunity to access, discuss, understand and create strategies to address these conditions in a safe space. This survey represents their voice, and we are providing it to them for improvement conversations which we believe begin at the schoolhouse.

Each system received passcodes for all schools in early June and will be sending them out to each school so they can see their system and/or school results and begin their conversations. The coalition partners plan on providing tools and assistance to schools on understanding and utilizing the survey results. To view your results click on “View Results” in the left hand navigation bar, find your school district and school from the pull down menus and enter your 6 digit passcode when prompted.

We also believe that the broader community is essential to improving teaching conditions and should know what educators say about these critical aspects of education. Passcodes will be removed in approximately nine months when more analyses can be conducted, linkages to student achievement and teacher retention can be assessed, and we can tell the public more definitively what we know about these conditions and which ones seem to make the most difference. We want to engage all of Colorado in this conversation, but we want to do so at a pace that benefits us all in maximizing our chance at improving.

Why do I have a passcode if my school did not attain a 50% response rate?
Schools that did not attain a 50% response rate may still receive a school specific access code that allows educators to see their school district results (if their district attained 40% and had at least 20 responses). Schools that did not attain a 50% response rate in a district that did not have a 40% response rate will not receive a code as the only data they will be able to view is state level results which are publicly available. The coalition wanted to ensure that data is reflective of the faculty and decided that may not occur if less than half of educators responded to the survey.

Can I share this passcode?
Unlike your survey access code, there is only one passcode to access survey results for your school, so it can be shared with other educators to allow everyone to view, reflect upon, and discuss the results. The TELL Colorado coalition partners signed a statement of purpose about using and sharing the data. We encourage all schools and districts to share their data only with educators in their school in order to honor the spirit of the coalition statement.

Where do I get the passcode to access my data?
Passcodes for each school were provided to both the school principal and your Association Representatives with specific instructions that they should be shared with the entire faculty. Please be patient as we know it takes time to disseminate these codes. If you have not received a passcode by the end of the school year please first ask your principal or contact your Association Representative in your school. If you have further questions or need additional assistance next contact your professional association or the Colorado Department of Education. This is really long. What should I be looking at?
Sharing the results for all questions at the school, district and state level takes up a lot of space. We have tried to do a few things to make the results easier to navigate. First, a two page summary is available at the front of the results or when you click the “significant factors” link on the left hand navigation bar which is available once you are logged in to your school results. These seven factors closely resemble the survey sections, drawing from the questions that were the most salient in explaining the survey's major themes. Results are presented on a 1 to 5 scale with 5 being the most positive. This should provide you with data at a glance. To look at a specific section of the survey, click on the section you are interested in on the left hand navigation bar and it will only show you the results of questions from that section. If you want to see all of the questions, click “all” and the full battery of results will once again appear.

What if I want to save or print the results? The bars lose color and the results get cut off when I print from the website.
The results may not print accurately directly from the web. Whether the bars include color and whether all of the results can be seen in the print out are dependent on the settings on your web browser. Therefore, to ensure that you can print (and save) the results, we have created the “Print to PDF” function available on the left hand navigation bar under the results tab (when you are logged into a school, district or the state results). If you click it, the page will open as an Adobe pdf file, at which point you can print it on any printer or save it as a file on your computer.
